The map below illustrates the Wai Māori Data Portal concept, bringing together Ngāi Tahu marae locations and significant rivers referenced in the Freshwater Statement of Claim, alongside modelled total nitrogen data from a Ministry for the Environment report, sourced here: River water quality: Nitrogen, modelled, 2016 - 2020 | MfE Data Service
The modelled data shows total nitrogen levels and uses the median value for each monitored feature. The original data has been re-categorised according to the freshwater outcomes criteria determined by Ngāi Tahu. This provides an example of how data can be consolidated and understood through a Ngāi Tahu lens.
